Reverse description The reverse of this trial piece presents a completely blank, unworked copper planchet surface with no die impression, legends, or design elements whatsoever. The field is entirely plain and featureless, exhibiting the raw copper surface with natural flow lines, minor scratches, and areas of oxidation consistent with the piece's age and handling. This blank reverse is characteristic of a reverse trial strike, wherein only one die — in this case the reverse die used as the obverse — was employed during the striking process. The rim retains its reeded edge from the collar used during striking.
