Obverse description Mexican national arms at center depicting an eagle displayed facing left, perched on a cactus growing from a rocky outcrop amid water, grasping a serpent in its beak and talons. The design is rendered in a crude, locally produced style characteristic of Revolutionary-era emergency coinage. The legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS curves along the upper periphery in Latin script, with a beaded border encircling the entire design.
