Obverse description Right-facing bust of Bernardo O'Higgins, liberator and first Supreme Director of Chile, rendered in low relief in a classical style. The effigy occupies the central field, with the subject depicted in civilian attire with a high collar. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE CHILE arcs along the upper periphery, while the name BERNARDO O'HIGGINS appears in a straight legend along the lower field beneath the bust. Two small star ornaments flank the inscription at the lower left and right of the border.

Obverse lettering REPUBLICA DE CHILE BERNARDO O'HIGGINS
Reverse description Large numeral '20' dominates the central field in bold relief, with the denomination legend CENTAVOS inscribed directly below and the date 1953 appearing beneath in the lower exergue. Flanking the central numeral on both sides are decorative sprays of stylised floral or foliate branches curving inward from the periphery toward the denomination. A small mint mark 'S' for the Santiago mint appears above and to the left of the numeral '20' near the upper field.
