| Obverse description | Central device features a radiant sun with alternating straight and wavy rays emanating from a centrally placed human face rendered in relief, a motif derived from Incan solar iconography. The sun occupies the majority of the field, enclosed within a plain inner circle. The circumferential legend REPUBLICA PERUANA arcs across the upper portion of the coin, with the date 1879 positioned vertically along the right side. The denomination VEINTE CENTAVOS is inscribed along the lower arc, flanked on either side by a five-pointed star. The entire design is bordered by a beaded outer rim. |
