| Obverse description | Central field features four large Chinese characters arranged in a cruciform pattern reading top-to-bottom, right-to-left, flanked at centre by Manchu script characters denoting the Boo-gi (Kirin) mint. The entire central device is encircled by an outer ring of Chinese inscriptions denoting the provincial authority, reign title, and denomination. The legend reads in part that each twenty-cash piece is equivalent to one unit of currency, referencing the Guangxu Emperor's reign. The coin is struck within a beaded border, with all inscriptions executed in relief against a flat field. |
