Reverse description The reverse features a central square hole flanked on the left and right by Manchu script characters reading 'Boo-fu' (ᠪᠣᠣ ᡶᡠ), identifying the Fuzhou mint. Above the square hole appears the Chinese numeral 二十 (er shi, meaning 'twenty') divided as one character above and one below the aperture, denoting the denomination of 20 cash. The legends are cast in bold relief within a plain raised rim, with the Manchu and Chinese inscriptions together providing both the mint identification and the face value.
