Obverse description Central field bears four large Chinese characters reading 中華銅幣 (Chinese Copper Coin) arranged in a two-by-two grid within an inner beaded circle. A Manchu script legend arcs across the upper portion of the field, reading above the inner circle. The English legend THE REPUBLIC OF CHINA curves along the lower periphery between the inner and outer beaded borders. Two small five-pointed stars flank the English legend at either side. The overall design is plain and typographic, with no figurative imagery, the inscriptions serving as the sole decorative elements.
