Obverse description The obverse features the Sardula (mythological lion) advancing to the left in the central field, rendered in a stylised heraldic manner. Above the lion, the Kannada inscription 'Shri Chamundi' appears along the upper periphery, flanked by symbols of the sun and moon positioned on either side of the word 'Shri'. The regnal or mint date is inscribed in the lower portion of the field beneath the lion figure.
