Obverse description Central field features four principal Chinese ideograms arranged in a cross pattern reading top to bottom and right to left, flanked by Manchu script characters at centre. An outer ring of Chinese ideograms encircles the entire design, conveying the mint of origin, the reign title of Emperor Guangxu, and the denomination. The overall layout follows the traditional format of Qing dynasty cash coinage adapted for machine-struck provincial issues.
