Obverse description Central field bears four large Chinese characters reading 'Guang Xu Yuan Bao' (Guangxu Original Currency) arranged vertically and horizontally around a central rosette. The upper arc of the field carries the inscription 'Fu Jian Guan Ju Zao' (Made at the Fukien Official Mint) in Chinese, flanked by floral ornaments, while the lower arc reads 'Mei Dang Qian Er Shi Wen' (Each equal to twenty cash). Manchu script 'Boo-fu' (Fukien Mint) appears in the left and right flanking positions within the inner beaded circle. The entire design is contained within a beaded inner circle and a toothed outer border, with small floral rosettes separating the legend segments.
