Obverse description Central field features the heraldic arms of the East India Company, comprising a quartered shield supported by two rampant lions, each holding a flagstaff surmounted by a lion passant. A crowned helmet with lion crest appears above the shield, and a scroll below bears the Latin motto AUSPICIO REGIS ET SENATUS ANGLIÆ. The legend EAST INDIA COMPANY arcs around the upper periphery, with the date 1808 prominently displayed at the bottom of the field.
