Obverse description At right, an intaglio portrait of José Antonio Páez is rendered in three-quarter view, his name inscribed in small capitals below; the central guilloche vignette carries the denomination legend "VEINTE BOLÍVARES" alongside the bearer clause, with ornate scrollwork corner numerals "20". Two serial numbers run across the upper field in dark green, with facsimile signatures of the Presidente and Primer Vice-Presidente below, and the full issue date printed beneath them.

Reverse description The central intaglio vignette presents the Monument to the Battle of Carabobo — a multi-tiered stone plinth surmounted by an equestrian group and allegorical figures — set against a fine guilloche underprint in green and peach tones. The Venezuelan national coat of arms with decorative foliage appears at left. "BANCO CENTRAL DE VENEZUELA" runs across the top, "VEINTE BOLÍVARES" along the lower margin, and the numeral "20" is repeated at each corner within a scalloped border.
