Venezuela's 20 Bolívar notes of this period were printed by ABNC during a stretch of relative monetary stability — the bolívar had been pegged at 4.30 to the US dollar since 1964 and would hold that rate until 1983. The ABNC contract was long-standing; the company had produced Venezuelan currency across multiple denominations going back decades, and the relationship reflected both the quality of the intaglio work and Caracas's preference for offshore security printing during that period.

Pick 52 is not a scarce type, but the 1971 dated examples are somewhat less frequently encountered than 1972.
