Obverse description The crowned oval shield of Lucerne, divided per pale with horizontal lines on the dexter and a vertical pale on the sinister, is displayed centrally in the field, flanked on either side by a rising olive branch. The circular legend RESPUBLICA LUCERNENSIS runs around the periphery, with the denomination 20·BAZ· inscribed in the exergue below a horizontal baseline. The overall design is rendered in a neoclassical milled style typical of late 18th-century Swiss cantonal coinage.
