Additional information

The Church of San Francisco de Asís in Veraguas is one of the oldest surviving colonial religious structures in the Americas, with construction dating to the late seventeenth century under Franciscan missionaries working the Pacific interior. Panama has issued relatively few silver commemoratives tied to specific architectural monuments, and this piece draws attention to a building that most numismatic literature on Central America ignores entirely.

The selective gold plating technique here was applied during striking, not post-mint — a distinction that affects long-term surface stability.
