Additional information

Issued in 2017 as part of the extensive posthumous commemorative program following Bhumibol Adulyadej's death in October 2016, this piece marks the centenary of Chulalongkorn University — founded in 1917 and named for Rama V, the king who modernized Thailand's educational infrastructure in the late nineteenth century. Bhumibol himself served as the university's patron for decades.

The Royal Thai Mint produced numerous commemorative 20 Baht pieces in the months after Bhumibol's death, making careful attribution to specific issues essential for accurate cataloging.
