Issued to mark the 50th anniversary of Thailand's Board of Investment, this 2016 piece was struck while Rama IX — Bhumibol Adulyadej — was still alive, though his death in October of that year transformed it into a posthumous commemorative almost immediately after release. The BOI was established in 1966 under the Investment Promotion Act, a cornerstone of Thailand's post-war industrialization push that drew significant foreign manufacturing capital into the country over subsequent decades.
