Reverse description A lyre depicted in high relief at the centre of the flan, its rectangular sound box surmounted by two curved arms joined by a crossbar from which strings descend, rendered with careful detail consistent with Apolline iconography. The magistrate's legend CAEC RVF IIVIR is distributed around the field, reading to the left and right of the instrument, naming Caecilius Rufus in his capacity as duovir of the colony. The reverse field is otherwise plain, and the irregular flan edges are typical of hammered provincial bronze coinage of the late Republican to early Augustan period.
