| Obverse description | Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the classicizing Hellenistic portrait style typical of early Imperial provincial coinage. The emperor's hair is depicted in short, naturalistically modeled locks swept forward over the brow. The legend ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΥ (meaning 'of Augustus') runs along the left field. The flan is irregular in shape, consistent with hand-struck provincial bronze production. |
