Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena facing right, wearing a Corinthian helmet pushed back on the head, rendered in the Hellenistic style. The facial features are modelled with moderate relief, with visible cheek guards framing the face. The field is plain and unlettered. The flan shows the characteristic irregular fabric of provincial bronze coinage of the period.

Reverse description A cow standing and grazing to the right, rendered in a naturalistic Hellenistic style with a groundline beneath. A monogram appears below the animal's belly in the central field. The Greek legend ΓΑΙΟΥ ΤΑΜΙΟΥ, referring to the Roman quaestor Gaius, is distributed across the field, identifying the issuing Roman magistrate responsible for the coinage of Macedonia Prima following the Roman conquest.
