Additional information

The 2016 Chinese Gold Panda series was the last year before the People's Bank of China abandoned the fixed 1-troy-ounce standard in favor of metric weights, making this the final cycle to include the traditional sizing conventions that had defined the program since 1982. The 2000g denomination sits at the extreme end of what the mint produced for that lunar issue — a format reserved for presentation and sovereign wealth acquisition rather than anything approaching circulation.

The Shenyang and Shanghai mints shared production responsibilities for the 2016 lunar series. Mintages at this weight were not publicly disclosed by the PBC.
