Obverse description At center, the crowned royal coat of arms of Portugal is depicted in high relief, featuring the five escutcheons charged with roundels arranged in a cross pattern and bordered by seven castles, all surmounted by an ornate royal crown. The denomination 20000 appears in two vertical columns of numerals flanking the shield to left and right, each column accompanied by a vertical row of five cinquefoil rosettes. The circumferential legend runs along the periphery within a fine beaded border, identifying the sovereign in abbreviated Latin.
