| Obverse description | The obverse displays the coats of arms of Uruguay and Spain side by side in the central field. The Uruguayan arms, rendered as an oval escutcheon quartered with scales of justice, a mountain, a horse, and an ox, is surmounted by the rising Sun of May and encircled by a laurel and olive wreath tied with a ribbon at the base. To its right, the Spanish royal arms are depicted on a quartered shield featuring the castles of Castile and the lions of Leon, with the Pillars of Hercules bearing the motto PLVS VLTRA on flanking banners, surmounted by the royal crown. The denomination N$ 20.000 is inscribed in the lower exergue. |
