Obverse description The obverse displays two coats of arms side by side in the central field: at left, the oval arms of Uruguay surmounted by a radiant sun and flanked by laurel and oak branches, with the four quartered shield depicting scales of justice, a fortified hill, an ox, and a horse; at right, the crowned royal arms of Spain featuring the quartered shield with castles and lions, the Pillars of Hercules with the motto PLUS ULTRA on flanking banners. The denomination N$ 20000 is inscribed in the lower exergue in bold raised numerals. The design commemorates the official visit of the Spanish King and Queen to Uruguay.
