| Obverse description | The obverse of this Notgeld voucher is printed in dark brown and purple on a buff ground, with a scalloped guilloche border enclosing the central text panel. The issuer's name, Die Badische Anilin- & Soda-Fabrik, Ludwigshafen/Rhein, is set in Gothic blackletter at the top, followed by the promise-to-pay legend in smaller script. A large red-purple overprint in bold Gothic type reads Zwanzig Millionen Mark diagonally across the centre, superimposed over the original denomination Tausend Mark, which remains legible in dark ink beneath. The date Ludwigshafen, den 16. Oktober 1922 and two manuscript signatures appear in the lower portion, with the serial number in red at lower right and a validity clause at the foot. |
