Obverse description The face is dominated by two interlocking guilloche rosettes printed in brown, with the large Gothic script denomination "Zwanzig Millionen Mark" set centrally across the underprint. The numeral "20" appears in the upper right corner above "Millionen", while a serial number and an embossed dry seal (Trockenstempel) of the city appear in the lower portion beneath the Oberbürgermeister's manuscript signature.

Reverse description The reverse bears a single large circular vignette printed in brown, framed by a double-line border, containing a landscape scene of Heidelberg Castle ruins set on a wooded hillside to the right, with a tall laurel branch rising in the foreground from a decorative cartouche at the base. The engraving is executed in a fine intaglio-style line work.
