Obverse description The obverse is printed in black and red on white paper, divided into two panels by a vertical border. The left panel contains a letterpress vignette of the Crefeld city church with the caption 'STADT' above and 'CREFELD' below, set within a decorative frame with corner rosettes. The right panel carries the denomination 'Zwanzig Millionen Mark' in bold Gothic blackletter script over an intricate red guilloche underprint, below which a three-line text in Kurrent script identifies the Stadthauptkasse Crefeld as the paying authority, with the issue date 'Crefeld, den 15. August 1923' and a facsimile signature of the Oberbürgermeister, Dr. Johansen, at lower right.

Reverse description The reverse is printed entirely in teal-green, structured as two horizontal panels separated by a vertical border. The main left panel consists of a central rectangular cartouche bearing the large numeral '20.000.000' in white relief against a solid teal ground, flanked above and below by the inscription 'MARK' within bands of geometric guilloche ornament composed of triangles, spirals, and chain-link motifs. The narrow right panel contains a vignette of a tall column or monument topped with an eagle, set against a lightly clouded sky within the same decorative border system.
