By the time the 20 Milliarden Mark note entered circulation in late 1923, the denomination was already nearly worthless before it left the press. Germany's hyperinflation that autumn was accelerating faster than the Reichsdruckerei could overprint or replace existing stock — at its peak, prices were doubling every few days. The Reichsdruckerei was running multiple shifts and still could not keep pace with demand for physical currency.
P#118 was superseded almost immediately by higher denominations. The Rentenmark stabilization of November 1923 rendered the entire series void at the rate of one Rentenmark to one trillion old Mark.
