| Obverse description | Letterpress-printed note on cream stock in black ink throughout, headed 'Gutschein der Stadt Gießen' in blackletter Gothic script. The central denomination text 'Zwanzig Milliarden Mark' is set in large blackletter type, flanked on either side by a lightly embossed circular dry seal of the City of Gießen. The lower section carries the redemption clause, the place and date 'Gießen, Oktober 1923', the Oberbürgermeister's manuscript signature, a serial number at lower right, and the printer's imprint 'Brühl, Gießen' at foot. |
