Obverse description The crowned Polish eagle with wings spread, rendered in high relief, occupies the upper central field. Beneath the eagle, in the lower portion of the coin, a segment of a medieval city wall with a gateway arch is depicted, evoking the historic fortifications of a Polish town. The circular legend RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA arcs along the upper rim, flanked by the date 2006 to the right. The denomination 2 ZŁ appears in the lower right field, with the mint mark MW visible beneath the eagle.

Reverse description A detailed three-quarter perspective view of Sandomierz Castle dominates the central field, depicting the Renaissance main building with its arcaded upper storey and crenellated parapet, alongside the cylindrical tower surmounted by a domed cupola and flagpole. The architectural rendering captures the stonework and fenestration in fine relief, set upon a rocky promontory. The city name SANDOMIERZ is inscribed in spaced letters along the upper rim as a curved legend.
