| Obverse description | The crowned white eagle, the Polish national emblem, is depicted in high relief at the center of the field. The circular legend 'RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA' arcs around the upper periphery, with the mint mark 'MW' incorporated into the design. The date '2001' is divided to either side of the eagle's lower body, flanked by decorative dot patterns. Below the eagle, the denomination '2' appears in large numerals, with the currency abbreviations 'ZŁ' to each side. |

| Reverse description | A right-facing bust portrait of the celebrated Polish violinist and composer Henryk Wieniawski occupies the right portion of the field, rendered in finely detailed relief. Wieniawski died in Moscow in 1880 at just 44, his health destroyed by decades of relentless touring across Europe and America. The 2001 issue coincides with the 170th anniversary of his birth in Lublin — NBP's Nordic gold collector series had by this point become a reliable vehicle for honoring Polish cultural figures otherwise absent from circulating coinage.
