| Additional information |
Khotan's bilingual coinage — struck in both Kharoshthi and Chinese scripts — reflects the kingdom's position astride the southern Silk Road route, where Indian cultural influence met Han administrative reality. These "posthumous" issues were struck after the death of Gurgamoa, continuing his name in circulation as a matter of monetary continuity rather than commemoration. The practice was common in Khotan and makes precise reign-dating nearly impossible.
Cribb's grouping system, rather than individual catalogue numbers, reflects genuine uncertainty about sequence and attribution within this series.
