Reverse description A standing female figure, identified as the Church or Faith, is depicted facing front in flowing robes with a radiate nimbus, holding a tall Latin cross in her right hand and a papal key or sceptre in her left. To her right stands a short pillar surmounted by the Agnus Dei (a lamb), symbolising the foundation of the Church upon the Rock of Peter. The surrounding Latin legend SVPRA FIRMAM PETRAM, with the mint mark R and date 1828 in the exergue area, is separated by dots within a beaded border.
