| Obverse description | Central field features a portrait of a figure in left-facing profile, rendered in low relief against a plain inner field. The legend 'ESSAI · PATTERN · PROBE' arcs along the upper periphery of the brass centre, while the date '2012' appears in the lower field beneath the portrait.
