| Obverse description | Bare-headed effigy of King Maximilian II of Bavaria in right-facing profile, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair swept back in naturalistic waves and a neatly trimmed beard and moustache. The truncation of the neck is clean and unadorned. The encircling legend reads MAXIMILIAN II KŒNIG V. BAYERN, divided on either side of the portrait, with the engraver's signature C. VOIGT incused at the base of the neck truncation. The field is broad and mirror-like, framed by a fine toothed border. |
