| Obverse description | Central field features a rayed sun motif rendered in relief, with sixteen pointed rays radiating outward from a plain central disc. Four large Chinese characters in traditional regular script (kaishu) are disposed in cruciform arrangement around the central sun, reading 成 (above), 通 (right), 泰 (below), and 寶 (left), forming the reign legend 成泰通寶 (Thành Thái Thông Bảo). The design is contained within a plain raised inner border and a broader flat rim, the latter pierced by two small suspension holes at the top and bottom, indicating use as a presentation or ornamental piece. |
