Obverse description Saints Rupert and Virgil seated facing one another: St. Rupert to the left holding a salt box and a crozier, St. Virgil to the right holding a model of Salzburg Cathedral and a crozier. Between them, an oval quartered shield of arms, with the Salzburg Archbishopric arms in quarters one and four, and the arms of the Raitenau family in quarters two and three, surmounted by the Archbishop's galero. The circumferential legend in Latin runs along the outer border of the field.
