Obverse description Right-facing armored bust of Emperor Rudolph II, depicted in high relief with a ruffled collar and richly detailed cuirass adorned with ornamental chains and heraldic devices. The emperor's hair is curly and his beard closely trimmed, rendered in the characteristic Mannerist portrait style of the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. The effigy occupies the majority of the coin's field, with fine hammered texture visible throughout. A beaded inner border frames the design, with the Latin legend running continuously around the outer periphery.
