Obverse description Central field occupied by the elaborate quartered arms of the Bishopric of Eichstätt, displaying horizontal bars and a crozier in alternating quarters, surmounted by an ornate pontifical mitre flanked by elaborately rendered scrolling acanthus mantling. Two globes with crossed bands appear at the upper flanks of the shield. The date 1596 is inscribed in the upper field above the mitre. A beaded inner border frames the composition, with the episcopal legend running clockwise around the periphery.
