Obverse description Central device consisting of the quartered arms of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, displaying the traditional heraldic charges including the bull's head, the griffin, and additional territorial quarterings, all within an ornate oval cartouche surmounted by a ducal crown. The shield is flanked by elaborate foliate and floral mantling that fills the field. The circumferential legend in Latin characters reads FRIED. FRANZ. V. G. G. HERZOG ZU MECKLENB., identifying Frederick Francis I by the grace of God, Duke of Mecklenburg.
