Obverse description Bare-headed right-facing effigy of King Friedrich August II of Saxony, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair swept back from the brow. The truncation of the neck is clean and unadorned. A beaded border frames the design, with the commemorative legend arcing around the upper periphery and the date of the king's death inscribed along the lower field: a dagger symbol preceding 'D. 9. AUG. 1854'. The portrait is executed in the classical Romantic engraving style characteristic of mid-19th century German coinage.
