| Obverse description | Laureate and armored bust of Emperor Ferdinand II facing right, wearing a richly decorated cuirass with a ruffled collar visible beneath, the bust truncated at the shoulder. A wreath border frames the inner field. The circumferential legend reads FERDINANDVS II D G RO I S A G H B REX, with the date appearing in the upper field divided by the bust. The portrait is rendered in high relief in the bold Habsburg Baroque style characteristic of the Graz mint. |

| Reverse description | Elaborately quartered and subdivided imperial coat of arms of the Habsburg dynasty, surmounted by a large imperial crown with ornamental flourishes above. The shield displays the multiple quarterings representing the various dominions of Ferdinand II, including Austria, Burgundy, Castile, Leon, Bohemia, Hungary, and Styria, among others. The shield is set within a beaded inner circle, with the outer legend ARCHI AVST DVX BVR STYRIÆ ETC running along the periphery between beaded borders. The overall design reflects the grandiose heraldic style associated with double-thaler coinage of the early seventeenth century. |
