| Obverse description | Armored three-quarter bust of Elector Augustus of Saxony facing right, wearing elaborately engraved plate armor with a ruff collar and a commander's baton visible over his right shoulder. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the late Renaissance style characteristic of Dresden Mint workmanship. A beaded inner border frames the portrait, with the circular Latin legend distributed around the periphery. The field surrounding the bust is flat and unadorned, directing attention to the finely detailed armorial dress. The overall composition reflects the stately portraiture conventions of the Albertinian Saxon electoral series. |
