| Obverse description | Central field occupied by the large, elaborately detailed quartered coat of arms of the Electorate of Hesse, surmounted by an electoral crown with flanking mantling and tassels. The shield displays multiple heraldic quarters incorporating lions, crosses, and other traditional Hessian devices. A wreath of oak branches frames the lower portion of the arms. The surrounding legend reads WILH.II.KURF.U.FRIEDR.WILH.KURPRINZ=MITREGENT, identifying Elector William II and Crown Prince Frederick William as co-regent, divided by a small ornamental rosette at the base. |
