Obverse description Bare-headed right-facing effigy of Ludwig I, King of Bavaria, rendered in high relief with finely detailed curling hair and side-whiskers, the truncation bearing the engraver's signature C.VOIGT. The peripheral legend arcs around the upper and lateral fields, reading LUDWIG I KOENIG VON BAYERN, enclosed within a toothed border. The portrait is executed in the neoclassical style characteristic of Voigt's medallic work.
