Obverse description Within a beaded inner circle, a large crowned ornate Gothic letter 'E' is superimposed upon a floriated cross, the arms of the cross terminating in decorative foliage. The entire device is rendered in high relief in the style typical of early seventeenth-century German municipal coinage. A continuous Latin legend encircles the design, with the date 1628 incorporated at the close of the inscription.
