Reverse description The reverse depicts the celebrated Biscione, the heraldic serpent of Milan, rendered in high relief at the center of the field. The sinuous, coiled serpent is shown with a crowned, dragon-like head facing left, its scaled body undulating in a series of flowing curves across the field. The central motif is framed by an elaborate wreath of laurel or olive branches that encircles the entire design, with finely detailed foliage filling the border. Small star-like ornamental devices are scattered across the background field. No legends appear on this face; the design relies entirely on the sculptural quality of the relief engraving.
