Obverse description The national coat of arms of Samoa is displayed prominently in the centre of the field, comprising a heraldic shield bearing a palm tree, ocean waves, and the Southern Cross constellation of five stars, set upon a globe encircled by two olive branches. Above the shield, a Christian cross surmounts the composition. A scroll legend at the base of the arms reads FA`AVAE I LE ATUA SAMOA. The country name SAMOA appears as a curved legend at the upper periphery, and the denomination $2 is inscribed in the lower field.
