Obverse description Within a raised inner circle set on a square klippe flan, the abbreviated provincial name 'W · FRISIA' is inscribed in three lines across the field, with two pellets flanking the uppermost line. The date 1672 appears in the lower portion of the circle. The bold, deeply struck lettering fills the central field with no additional decorative elements, characteristic of the austere hammered coinage of the Dutch Republic provinces.
