Reverse description Date of issue struck in large, loosely formed Latin numerals filling the central field of the reverse. The four-digit year is rendered in a bold, somewhat irregular hand-engraved style across the face of the planchet, consistent with the primitive hammered technique employed for this issue. The flat, wide flan shows characteristic surface irregularities and patination typical of copper hammered coinage from the Netherlands East Indies administration in Java.
